Readers will certainly be impressed at the amount of research that must have gone into the creating of this story. The storyteller makes her reader feel as though they can feel the dust of the Oregon Trail, the smell of the campfires, and the very bump of the wagon as it moves the reader along on the journey.

The three young women, who are the main characters, exemplify the hardiness of Americans who helped settle the West. They leave the comfort of their homes, disagree on many issues, but are able to leave their footprints on a new land.
